Road Vacation Resolution - 1/26/08

Another item of interest at the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) meeting on Monday evening (1/28/08) is the attached road vacation resolution.

The resolution states the county will not accept petitions for road vacations or sale of tax title lands until the Illahee, Kingston, and Hansville community plans are completed and adopted. This is the last item on the evening's agenda, just before the final opportunity for the public to address the board, so it could be after 9 pm. (The agenda for the meeting can be accessed on line at kitsapgov.com. From there go to the panel on the right and select Commissioner Agendas, and then select Jan 28, and you will have the entire meeting agenda.)

For any of you who have not seen your county government in action, this might be a good meeting to attend, as several Illahee issues will be discussed.

The meetings are held in the new Administration Building where there is ample and comfortable seating, not to mention plenty of parking. The meetings are now held in the evening beginning at 7 pm so more citizens can attend.

  1. I agree that this meeting should be a good one to attend.

First of all I like the evening schedule, if for no other reason, being able to find a parking spot and not having to worry about a ticket if the meeting goes over 2 hours.

Secondly, the agenda is interesting and it will be good to hear the DCD director speak.

Thirdly, it will be interesting to hear what the commissioners have to say about the Illahee Community Plan, the Smith/Peacock petition, and the road vacation resolution that was probably because of Illahee.

Don't know whether it is good or bad to have Illahee in front of the commissioners so often.

  2. So, to clarify, if the resolution is passed, will the Smith/Peacock petition be left undecided until the Community Plan is adopted?

  3. Marbledog - Seems to me the commissoners are in some kind of a pickle. How can they decide on a petition in one part of their meeting and then later pass a resolution saying they aren't going to make any decisions on petitions until a community plan is approved?

It will be interesting to watch and see what happens.
